Do you have a sewing machine that you don't know how to use? Bring it to class and I'll teach you!
This class is for complete beginners. We'll go over the basics of turning your machine on, threading it, learning how to use different stitches, and basic sewing machine troubleshooting and maintenance. In this class, you'll learn the main tools needed for sewing and foundational skills to take into your home sewing practice. To practice the machine, we'll make a simple tote bag.
We will approach sewing with an anti-perfectionist mindset and stay curious and enjoy the process of learning a skill that will open the door to making and repairing your own clothes. If you would like to borrow a machine (I have one extra) please email me before class to reserve it. I will have tools on hand to borrow during class and will also be emailing a list of what you'll need to bring with.
You'll leave class with a finished tote bag, an instructional guide and the knowledge of how to use your sewing machine.
Class will be held at Rosemarine Textiles studio in Hamtramck, Sunday July 20th from 11:30-2:30pm. This class will be limited to 5 participants. If you're unable to attend, please notify me before class begins and you will receive a store credit.

Meghan is a phenomenal teacher! She was very patient with my very beginner level questions. I had fun in this class and walked away with new friends to practice sewing with in the future!
I was asked by a friend to join her for this class and I’m so happy I did! I had absolutely no idea what I was doing and within a few hours I felt confident behind the machine and left with an awesome tote bag I can’t stop showing off. Meghan is so sweet, funny, and patient and I felt totally at ease even when I kept messing up in the beginning. She encourages you to keep going and practice practice practice so that you actually leave feeling confident and excited to keep developing your skills. Her space is so cozy and cute, and she maintains the perfect balance of being hands off enough that you really learn the steps and skills but doesn’t hesitate to hop in and get you through the rough patches. I would highly recommend this class to anyone - you don’t even have to necessarily be interested in sewing. It’s just so fun! Our classmates were awesome as well. I truly had such a fun time and I’m so thankful my friend asked me to join. I definitely want to go back for more classes in the future.
I had a wonderful time and would absolutely recommend this to anyone who is even slightly interested. I had zero experience with a sewing machine prior to this class. Megan is an excellent teacher. She is incredibly kind and patient. Her explanation of how to thread and use a sewing machine was very thorough and easy to understand. She calmly guided everyone through the process from start to finish. It was really fun and interesting! Plus, I got to leave with a cool, informative zine and a new tote bag!
Thank you so much Jarrett! It was a pleasure to have you in class :)
Would highly recommend anybody trying to get familiar with their sewing machine. Marie was incredibly helpful and kind.
I had a sewing machine that was just sitting there for years and now I know how to use it! Amazing!
