Join us for a hands-on workshop on visible mending, a sustainable and creative way to give your clothes a new life. Led by textile artist Meghan of Rosemarine Textiles, this workshop will cover the basics of darning a sock, mending jeans or clothing, and sewing a button. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned maker, you'll leave with the skills and inspiration to repair and revamp your wardrobe.
Mending your clothes is not only a practical skill but also a mindful and eco-friendly act. In a world of fast fashion and disposable clothing, visible mending is a way to slow down and appreciate the beauty and history of your garments. By repairing instead of replacing, you can reduce your carbon footprint and extend the life of your clothes. Plus, visible mending allows you to add your own personal touch and create unique designs that reflect your style and values.
During the workshop, you'll receive a mending kit that includes hand sewing needles, embroidery floss, and a mending instructional zine, which you can take home to continue your mending journey. You'll also have the opportunity to connect with other makers and share your mending stories and tips.
The workshop will take place at Rosemarine Textiles Studio in Hamtramck.
Date: Thursday June 19th
Time: 6:30-9pm EST
Location: 11447 Joseph Campau, South Unit, Hamtramck, MI 48212

I love my clothes and now I can mend them and keep wearing them forever!!
Meghan is such a wonderful, patient teacher. This workshop is great for total beginners or people with a little self-taught mending experience. Meg teaches you the basics plus a lot of helpful tips and tricks I had never figured out on my own. We were able to work on multiple projects, and everything we needed was provided. Meg was so generous with the supplies, which I think really makes this workshop worth it. She totally changed the way I approach my mending projects, and after taking the class I have finally finished darning a bunch of socks and have moved on to patching my favorite shirt. I can’t wait to wear it again!
