Have you ever wanted to learn how to sew your own clothes? In this class, we'll go over the basics of using the sewing machine and make your first pair of elastic waist pants. This is a multi-week class that meets from 6-9pm on Tuesdays. The dates of the class are: Tuesday May 6th, Tuesday May 13, and Tuesday May 20th.
This class is for complete beginners. In week one, we'll go over the basics of turning your machine on, threading it, learning how to use different stitches, and basic sewing machine troubleshooting and maintenance. In week two, we'll cut out the pattern and begin sewing the pants. In week three, we'll finish sewing the pants.
We will approach sewing with an anti-perfectionist mindset and stay curious and enjoy the process of learning a skill that will open the door to making and repairing your own clothes. If you would like to borrow a machine (I have one extra) please email me before class to reserve it. I will have tools on hand to borrow during class and will also be emailing a list of what you'll need to bring with. Items required for this class include: sewing pattern, fabric, elastic, fabric shears, and pins.
You'll leave class with a finished pair of pants, an instructional guide and the knowledge of how to use your sewing machine.
Class will be held at Rosemarine Textiles studio in Hamtramck from 6-9pm. This class will be limited to 5 participants. If you're unable to attend, please notify me before class begins and you will receive a store credit.
