Big Announcement!

Meghan standing next to the shelf in the studioThings are changing! I feel good about it but it's also sad to have this chapter come to a close.

One of the most amazing things that has come out of running my own business is unearthing my special unique gift of community building and teaching my craft. My strength lies in bringing people together and facilitating a creative learning environment where people feel empowered to be creative and make new friends. Now more than ever, people feel so lost, distracted and disconnected (myself included). Being able to have these in person experiences where we can learn creative skills together is so unbelievably fulfilling to me.

In the spirit of embracing what works and letting go of what doesn't, I've decided to discontinue most of my products. I've realized that what truly matters to me is the craft itself—the process of working with plant dyes and the work that goes into hand making pieces in an intentional way. Moving forward, I'll be focusing on workshops, kits and tutorials.

I don’t think that something has to exist forever for it to have been a success. I learned so much and I had so much fun. And if I do say so myself, I’m great at managing a team where we can have fun while we get shit done. I’m amazing at organizing events, creating a vision and making it happen. I have learned SO much about what goes into being an entrepreneur. I’ve always been a hustler and these skills will continue to come in handy! Small business ownership is NOT for the faint of heart.

My next step is to have a studio clear out sale of all of the current inventory that I have. I am really hoping to be able to stay in my space, and I’m looking for a studio mate who also work with textiles who are interested in splitting the cost. I would love to be able to continue hosting workshops and pop-ups and events in my space and I’m hoping to find one or two other people who are aligned with that.

I’m hosting a big sale in person on Saturday September 27th at my studio where I’m hoping to sell as much as possible of my remaining inventory at deeply discounted prices, and then I will list the remaining inventory on my website.  Moving forward, I will still offer my dye kits, zines, my quilt kits and other process oriented products.

I still hope to launch some sewing patterns and some online education materials for all of my customers outside of Detroit. This is not the end of Rosemarine Textiles. This is just the end of one chapter of Rosemarine Textiles. It will still carry on in an education and artistic capacity. I’ve been working with my friend Jordan to create a series of tutorials and educational posts for my blog that I’m extremely excited to share.

If you’re still interested in fiber art, natural dyes, creative classes, environmental sustainability, community and whatever else I feel like sharing, then I hope you’ll stick around.

xoxo
